Goodbye Bar Harbor…Hello Newport, RI.

We hit the road at 7:15am heading south to spend a few days in Newport, Rhode Island. But not before we stopped for an early lunch at Stonewall Kitchen in York, Maine to catch up with our friends Jill and Mark who are vacationing in York for the week. And since they live in San Francisco we had to make the stop to meet their baby boy and give hugs to their daughter!

TOO CUTE!

Once In Newport, RI we headed straight for the Lawn at Castle Hill to have some drinks and watch the boats coming in and out of the harbor. Such a great place to end a long summer day with a drink in hand and enjoying each other’s company. So worth it if ever in Newport, RI.

A few more photos from our afternoon:

After some cocktails and relaxing on the hill we headed into town in search from dinner. The only downside to Newport is the cost to park. $20! But unlimited. That’s crazy high. But we paid it cause we were all starving and needed to feed the beasts. We settled on one of Newport’s most popular restaurants, The Red Parrot. Good food and drink, however don’t come here if you’re in search of some quiet conversation, it’s pretty loud. It’s a large restaurant in a historic building right on the corner of Thames St and Memorial Blvd.

After dinner we walked around the docks and did a little window shopping. But before long we were all exhausted and decided to head to the hotel to check-in and have a drink before we called it a night. We stayed at the Homewood Suites by Hilton Newport for 2 nights. When we witnessed Maurisa’s pile of luggage we couldn’t help but laugh. She couldn’t even push the cart, she needed help from Little D. WOW! We could carry all of ours.
