This morning we hopped in a cab promptly at 3:30am, heading to Dulles International Airport for our flight to Belize. Final stop Grand Caribe Resort on Ambergris Caye.
Due to our early departure the girls’ energy level wasn’t in peak form. And neither was mine. I slept all the way to Atlanta, I was out even before takeoff.
Once back in the air to Belize, via Delta Airlines, we had the easiest flight we’ve had in a long time. Zero turbulence, which is great for Briana, decent in-flight entertainment, and great leg room. A huge thanks to Briana’s mom for Delta comfort. Oh and I got to sit with my babies.
We touched down in Belize City at approximately 11:45am central time. Made our way through customs, grabbed our luggage and headed out to meet our driver that would take us to our water taxi. Okay not really a taxi, more like a go fast boat that’s been retrofitted with seating. Nautilus water taxi had rum punch waiting for us at the dock and a cooler full for the trip over to Ambergris Caye. The only hangup we had all day is that we were stuck at the dock waiting for another family that was stuck in customs.
Once boarded, we were off. Now this ride originally was supposed to be like 70 minutes, wrong!!!! 2 hours and 15 minutes. Mainly because we’re now on Belizean time, but we needed to drop another family off at their villa.
I will say the boat ride would’ve been great however it was a little chilly. I wasn’t ready for that.
I loved all the different tones of emerald green the Caribbean provides. Such beauty.
As the Grand Caribe Resort came into site, I could tell this was going to be one relaxing vacation. Can’t wait, tomorrow I schedule my dives and we paddle board first thing in the morning.
Oh and our view isn’t half bad either.
Til tomorrow.
