Day 7: Fort Bragg to Walnut Creek, California.

We got up early Wednesday morning, had a nice little continental breakfast with a nice cup of hot coffee. If ever in Fort Bragg, California, I highly recommend staying at the The Beachcomber Motel, super cute with several fire pits on the deck and all the rooms are oceanfront. Since our check out time wasn’t until 11am, we decided to spend some time quality time whale watching from the cliffs and venturing down to the beach one last time. Before heading out to spend the rest of our vacation with our awesome friends Jill and Mark, and of course they’re wee one Stella, in Walnut Creek, California.

This is the only place to stay in Fort Bragg, California.

Before leaving Fort Bragg, California we had to make a stop at Glass Beach which is a beach in MacKerricher State Park in Fort Bragg, California. This beach is a must see! Sea glass is everywhere. The girls LOVED this place. I would highly recommend this to all.

Look at all this glass!!!!! It was so cool to see the water wash over all the glass.

The most amazing colors but blue was the hardest to find.

Back in the car and finally out of Fort Bragg we jumped on the CA-128. This takes you up and over the coastal mountains and straight through the emerald triangle. After about 30 minutes of switch backs we made it onto US 101 South.

Can you spot any?

Our drive took us past vineyards as far as the eye could see. As we were approaching Santa Rosa, California our friend Chris Jones told us about a great brewery. Russian River Brewing Company, as we were walking into the restaurant I snapped the photo below and sent it off to Chris saying “look where I am”.

What are the chances?

After our lunch and back on the 101 we were cruising along just fine until we weren’t. The afternoon traffic here is probably just as bad, if not worse than the DC area. We finally arrived at Jill and Mark’s house promptly at 5:00pm. And they live in the cutest small town home community. We settled in for the evening, Jill and Mark had prepared a lovely meal for us. We sat and caught up on life and then realized that we all had to get some sleep since we had a 9:30am Alcatraz tour which meant we had to be at the BART station by 7:00am.

Good night!
